Redundant Servers
All of our shared web hosting servers utilize fully redundant hardware. The main hardware components that must be redundant in order to provide a stable and reliable hosting platform are listed below:
» Redundant Hard Drives (RAID)
» Redundant Power Supplies
Redundant Hard Drives
The most common failure in any server or computer is the hard drive. To minimize the potential of data loss and downtime due to a failure of a single hard drive, 3Essentials uses RAID (Redundant Arrary of Independent Disks). RAID keeps an EXACT copy of the data on multiple drives that way if one drive fails then no data is lost.
Redundant Power Supplies
Other than hard drive failures, the second most common failure is the power supply in the server. Our servers have two power supplies connected to separate power circuits, so in case of a failure the remaining power supply provides power to the server and no downtime occurs.
