Step
1 - DNS and Domain Regsitration
Since you registered your domain through
our domain registrar reseller your
domain name will automatically be
configured to use our nameserver.
It usually takes up to 72 hours for
DNS to replicate and make your domain
available on the internet. To learn
more about DNS, how it works and why
it's so important to your hosting
plan click
here.
Until DNS replicates you cannot access
your website via your domain name.
You will need to upload your files
using the IP Address or Servername
of the server that is hosting your
domain name. This is covered in Step
2 and is temporary until DNS replicates.

Step
2 - Uploading Your Web Pages:
To upload files to your account you
can use your FTP client, or FrontPage.
Reference your welcome letter for
the appropriate credentials and the
server IP to use.
FTP -To FTP Files to your
site:
1. Open your FTP Client and configured
it to use the IP Address or servername
for your hosting plan. This information
is found in your welcome email.
2. Once you connect to the FTP server
with your FTP Client, change directory
to the httpdocs folder and then upload
your files.
Note: You must
first change directory to httpdocs,
then upload. You cannot upload into
the root directory.
3. Make sure to replace the index.html
file that is located in the httpdocs
folder with your own index.html file,
as this is the default document for
your web site.

to FTP your web pages to your new
account using Internet Explorer
That's it! you're done, your pages
are now available and you can preview
them at: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/yourdomain.com,
where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx= the IP Address
of your web server and yourdomain.com=
your domain name.
FrontPage:
1. Because FrontPage requires DNS
to already be replicated, before you
can publish your site you need to
make a change on your local PC where
FrontPage is installed. This involves
editing your hosts file so that you
can tell only your PC to send HTTP
requests to your new 3Essentials hosting
web server until DNS has replicated.
Once DNS replicates you can then go
back and remove the entry from the
hosts file.
Before starting with configuring and
publishing pages using FrontPage,
please watch
this flash tutorial on how to
modify your hosts file. Once you are
finished with the tutorial return
here and proceed below.
2. Now you can publish your pages
using FrontPage. Please follow this
tutorial on publising with FrontPage.
Step
3 - Create
Email Accounts:
1. Login to your PLESK Control Panel.
Reference your welcome email for the
username and password to use.
2. Once logged in, click on your domain
name
3. Click The Mail Icon
4. Fill in all fields, making sure
to check the mailbox checkbox.
Once you transfer your domain over
to us, you will be able to read email
via the web at http://webmail.yourdomain.com
Configure Outlook Express
You can go ahead and configure outlook
express to retreive your email. If
DNS hasn't replicated you can use
the server address instead of mail.yourdomain.com.
To determine your server address reference
your welcome letter and look for the
section "Server name to use until
DNS has replicated:".

Moving
away from your current provider to
us

The steps outlined below will guide
you through the process of uploading
your web pages and creating any mailboxes
so that you can prepare your site
before you transfer your domain name
to us. This will decrease the chance
of downtime while moving from your
old hosting provider. Do not initiate
a domain transfer to us until you
have completed these steps.

Step
3 - Transfer Your Domain
Once you are satisfied that your
site is showing correctly and you
have created all mailboxes you can
then Transfer
your domain name to us. This
process usually takes about 72 hours
to complete. Keep in mind that all
DNS Servers on the internet have
to replicated this change, so while
some ISP's DNS Servers will have
the correct DNS setting for your
domain, others may not. Some ISP's
may take longer to replicate their
DNS changes and this is beyond the
control of 3Essentials hosting.
